Seven People Charged

The accused include the woman's then-husband, a 37-year-old man, his mother, a 55-year-old woman, and his brother, a 26-year-old man, all charged with murder. The husband's sister, a 36-year-old woman, and brother-in-law, a 36-year-old man, were charged with aiding and abetting murder. The mother-in-law was also charged with conspiracy to commit murder. Two additional individuals are charged with harboring a criminal.

Woman Wanted a Divorce

According to the indictment, the woman had wanted a divorce for several years from her husband, from whom she had separated. Witness accounts and mobile data show that she attended the final meeting with her husband hoping to secure the divorce she had long desired.

All the accused deny the charges. The mother-in-law underwent a forensic psychiatric evaluation, which concluded that she did not commit the acts under the influence of a severe mental disorder. The acquisition of this report has delayed the verdict several times.

Prosecutors have requested a life sentence for the husband.

Verdict Today

The verdict will be announced at 2 PM in the Eskilstuna District Court.
