William Lundin Dismissed as Degerfors Coach
William Lundin has coached his last match for Degerfors. According to Expressen's sources, the head coach has already been dismissed, a fact later confirmed by the club. "The decision came as a complete shock," he wrote in a text message to Fotbollskanalen.
Aftonbladet was the first to report that Degerfors was considering a coaching change, citing that Lundin had lost parts of the locker room.
Expressen's sources indicate that Lundin has already been dismissed, marking his final match as head coach for the Allsvenskan newcomer.
Lundin's departure from Degerfors is expected to be officially announced within the next week or two, and the club has already begun the search for a replacement.
Confirms Dismissal: "Careful Consideration"
The club later confirmed on Thursday that Lundin has been dismissed.
"After a comprehensive assessment, the board has concluded that this is the best path for the club's continued development. The decision was made after careful consideration and in dialogue with the club's sports management," Degerfors stated.
For William Lundin, the news was unexpected.
"I am naturally disappointed and saddened by the club's decision. The decision came as a complete shock considering the results we have achieved over the past 18 months, with promotion to the Allsvenskan in the first year and currently having five teams behind us as newcomers in the Allsvenskan," he wrote in a text message to Fotbollskanalen.
Who will take over the team is currently unclear, as it is a process that will take time. Degerfors is in eleventh place in the Allsvenskan standings with 13 points.
