Two Found Shot Dead in Car in Järfälla: Police Investigation Underway
Two Found Shot Dead in Car in Järfälla
Two people were found shot dead in a car in Kallhäll, Järfälla municipality, north of Stockholm, on the night of Monday. One person has been arrested.
Shortly after midnight, police received several emergency calls about loud bangs in a residential area in Kallhäll, Järfälla municipality, north of Stockholm.
– We could confirm that there had been a shooting at the scene. Two people were found shot in a vehicle in a parking lot, says police spokesperson Rebecca Landberg.
Both were dead. They are two men aged 20-25. Neither has been definitively identified, but police have an idea of who they are.
One Arrested
The police are investigating the incident as murder and a serious weapons offense. One person was arrested on Monday morning, suspected of involvement in the case. He was later detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting murder.
An intensive police hunt and investigation are ongoing.
– We are searching for suspected perpetrators, says Susanna Rinaldo at the police regional command center but does not want to comment further on the suspected shooter or the arrested person.
Seen Fleeing the Scene
The crime scene was cordoned off during the night, and several people and vehicles have been checked nearby. People have been brought in for questioning, and police have been knocking on doors in the area.
A witness who spoke to TT said he heard six to seven shots in quick succession. Then he saw a man in the parking lot who fled on foot into the forest.
– He was very calm, the witness reports.
At the same time, he saw a taxi and what he interpreted as a man in the parking lot illuminated by something, perhaps a mobile phone. The man then fled into the nearby forest.
– He was very calm, and it didn't seem like he was running away in panic.
There are witnesses who have made observations in connection with the shooting, according to the police.
– A person is said to have been seen running from the shooting, said Rebecca Landberg during the night.
The police are also checking if any taxi companies had rides nearby, writes TT – and are looking at what cameras are in the area, including from nearby public transport.
Residents: "It's Terrible"
A person living near where the shooting occurred saw the police operation from their window.
– I opened the window and saw blue lights, police, and lots of cordons around. Then the police came and asked what I had seen or heard.
– It's terrible. This violence... we were protected until now, but it's just getting closer and closer. It didn't happen here before, maybe in Jakobsberg or Sollentuna, but Kallhäll was relatively calm, but that has changed.
The area is described by several as calm.
– It's a very calm area, where I live it's almost only pensioners, says another person living nearby.
