The alarm was raised around 2 PM on Thursday about a woman in her 40s being injured while working at a horse farm in Vemdalsfjällen.
The woman sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by helicopter from the farm to Östersund Hospital, where she later died.
On Friday, the farm where she worked, Trumvallens Fjällridning, posted about the accident.
"It is with deep sorrow in our hearts that we announce this," they wrote, continuing:
"Many of you have probably heard about the tragic accident we have suffered here at Trumvallen. We have lost our beloved Anna, Johan's life partner and our beloved family member, in an accident."
Spooked by a Wire – Panic Ensued
Anna was the partner of the farm's owner, Johan Persson, and leaves behind a grieving family.
The post describes how the incident occurred.
"A horse got entangled in a wire with one of its hind hooves and panicked as it dragged behind. When the horse then threw itself to the side, Anna couldn't get out of the way and ended up under the horse, which then trampled over her.
A helicopter quickly arrived and attended to Anna. Unfortunately, she had an internal bleeding that could not be stopped," the post states.
"We are in deep sorrow and completely devastated," they concluded.
