Three Acquitted in the Murder of Ex-Hells Angels Member Linus Bergh

The prosecutor sought life sentences for the murder of former Hells Angels member Linus Bergh. Now, three men have been acquitted of involvement in the murder.

– "Never call me again," says one of the accused, long-time Hells Angels president in Gothenburg, Benny “Blanco” Rumell, to Expressen.

In March 2022, two masked men entered a motorcycle club's premises in central Lidköping through a locked back door and shot the 36-year-old Linus Bergh in front of his pregnant girlfriend.

The three accused have now been acquitted of involvement in the murder by the Skaraborg District Court: "There are alternative explanations for how the murder could have been carried out. The court was unanimous in its assessment," writes the court's chairman Peter Stafverfeldt in a press release.

The murder occurred just a few months after Linus Bergh was expelled from Hells Angels and planned to start a rival club – Satudarah MC.

The murder site was, until weeks before the murder, a premises loyal to the Hells Angels.

Early on, the police searched for the murderers in the environment around Hells Angels and a loyal local motorcycle club in Lidköping. Three men were charged with the murder last spring, after more than three years of investigation.

• The long-time Hells Angels president in Gothenburg, Benny “Blanco” Rumell, was accused of planning and ordering the murder.

• A former leading member of a local Hells Angels-loyal motorcycle club was charged with murder, as he allegedly lured Linus Bergh and his father to a meeting where the armed men then appeared.

• A third man with clear connections to the Hells Angels environment was accused of aiding and abetting.

Expressen has been in contact with Benny “Blanco” Rumell, who declines to comment:

– "Never call me again," he says.

All three have denied all charges throughout the investigation. The trial took place in the security room of the Attunda District Court in Sollentuna, due to the security situation.

The connection to the criminal motorcycle club environment became apparent during the trial days, where most of the audience were members from various Hells Angels chapters around the country supporting their member.

The prosecution also faced several serious setbacks during the trial. Among other things, an anonymous witness withdrew days before he was to testify in court about how he allegedly heard the Hells Angels president claim he was involved in the murder.

This was by pointing to a badge he wore, which according to the police is only given to those in the club who have been involved in a murder. Benny Rumell stated that the anonymous witness lied and that the badge was worn by him for other reasons – and absolutely not for any murder.

Another of the prosecutor's witnesses refused to appear to testify about what he saw of the murder itself. The police had to bring him in for the interrogation to take place at all, he was fined and then chose not to answer any questions.

After the conclusion of the proceedings, the three co-defendants were released.

One of the men was sentenced to two years in prison for a serious assault on the E20, unrelated to the murder.
