In a video obtained by Expressen, a man is seen being led into a police van with paper bags over his hands.
The police confirm on their website that a person has been arrested in connection with the incident. The case is classified as an attempted public endangerment and a violation of the law on flammable and explosive materials.
Whether the object is live or not is still unknown. There are no reports of any injuries.
“Leave if You Don't Want to Be Blown Up”
By 9 PM, the cordons had been slightly eased, but the National Bomb Squad remained on site to handle the suspicious object.
According to eyewitnesses to GP, at least ten police cars initially rushed to Vasastan.
– They (the police) told me and the others standing here that if you see police with helmets, you should leave if you don't want to be blown up, a witness told the newspaper.
