At around 9 PM on Friday, police were alerted to a loud bang in Östberga, southern Stockholm. A person died when a car exploded in the middle of the street in the residential area.
– We assume that something exploded, which then caused the car to explode, said police spokesperson Mats Eriksson on Friday.
During the night, the police conducted a large-scale operation, with a significant cordon in place.
– We have now conducted a technical investigation and the cordons have been lifted, but we have not succeeded in identifying the person, says police spokesperson Per Fahlström on Saturday morning.
