Shock in Alvesta: Two Men Found Dead in Apartment Building

– Centh, 36: “Completely Unbelievable”

A man was found shot dead in the stairwell, and another was found dead in an apartment in the same building. Friday's suspected murder has shaken the small town of Alvesta in Småland.

– “For me, it's completely unbelievable that something like this happens in little Alvesta,” says neighbor Centh Gustafsson, 36.

On Friday evening, a large operation was launched after a man in his mid-30s was found shot dead in the stairwell of a multi-family house in Alvesta.

Centh Gustafsson, 36, lives in the neighboring building and was shocked when the blue lights started flashing outside his window.

– “Suddenly, I saw how the whole street filled with police cars,” he says.

No Signs of Conflict Seen

During the investigation, one of the apartments in the building was checked, where another man in his mid-30s was found dead.

– “For me, it's completely unbelievable that something like this happens in little Alvesta. It's unsettling when it happens so close by,” says Centh.

The incident is being investigated as a murder. Several neighbors are now seeking answers about what happened and why. Centh himself has not seen any signs of conflicts or feuds in the area.

– “It's very calm, everyone greets each other here. I haven't experienced anything that could have led to this,” he says.

Police told TT that they do not suspect any links to gang crime.

– “We are not looking for more perpetrators at the moment. We refer to the second deceased as a suspect and the first as the victim,” says police spokesperson Sara Andersson to TT.

“One Feels Very Unsafe”

On Saturday, the cordons around the crime scene remain, and police technicians continue to work on securing evidence in the building.

From windows and balconies, residents follow the development of events. Many, like Centh, also feel uneasy after what has happened.

– “One feels very unsafe,” says a passing neighbor.

– “This really came as a shock, one could never have imagined it,” says another.
