A bus has overturned on the E4 in Linköping. Approximately 50 passengers were on board, with 11 people injured, three of whom are considered to be in 'critical condition,' according to the police.
- "It is a Liu-bus involved, and the passengers are only our employees or students at the university," says Anna-Karin Thorstensson, spokesperson at Linköping University.
The alarm about the bus accident was received at 3:45 PM on Thursday.
A bus reportedly overturned on the E4 near Tallboda in Linköping. According to the police, 50 people were on board the bus. Initially, the rescue service in eastern Götaland reported that there were about 60 people on the bus.
The E4 will be closed during the rescue operation.
According to Corren, nine ambulances are on site. The rescue service reports that two people were trapped and have been freed.
The bus belongs to Linköping University.
- "It is a Liu-bus involved. We are now taking care of those who are shocked or otherwise affected," says Anna-Karin Thorstensson, spokesperson at Linköping University.
Three with 'Critical Injuries'
The bus operates between the university's three campuses.
- "Only travelers who are employees or students with us are on the bus," says Thorstensson.
At 4:35 PM, police spokesperson Olle Älveroth told Expressen that three people are critically injured.

Bus Recovery – Major Traffic Impact
Currently, the police assume it is a single-vehicle accident. Olle Älveroth does not know how fast the bus was traveling.
- "We continue our work on site. At a later stage, it will be interesting to go into details about how the accident may have occurred."
Shortly before 5 PM, the rescue service writes on its website that at least 13 people will be taken to the hospital for examination. "The uninjured passengers are warming up in another bus."
The region has gone into emergency mode due to the incident.
Traffic will be allowed to pass at a reduced speed around 5 PM, according to the rescue service. However, the traffic impact remains significant. The bus will be towed from the accident site. This work is expected to continue for a few hours, the police write on their website.
