Search Concludes After Fatal Boat Accident Near Sollefteå

The search operation following Sunday's fatal boat accident near Sollefteå has concluded, police report. Two men remain missing. Hungarian Máte Hart, 33, is among the missing.

Four individuals were aboard the boat, which capsized on the Fjällsjö River, approximately 50 kilometers northwest of Sollefteå. A boy under 15 was found in the water but later died in the hospital.

A man in his 40s was rescued, but two other men, in their 40s and 30s, are still missing.

Police have searched for the men using divers, sonar, dogs, drones, and helicopters, but without success. The diving operation concluded on Wednesday afternoon, and a final active search in the area was conducted with a helicopter on Thursday.

"It is now concluded," says police spokesperson Elin Andersson.

Several belongings were found in and near the water where the accident occurred, but the men remain missing. The search may resume if new information emerges.

The Fjällsjö River has stronger currents than natural waterways due to Vattenfall's hydroelectric plant, which causes rapid water level changes. The state-owned company will conduct its own investigation to determine if the accident could have been prevented, reported Tidningen Ångermanland on Wednesday.
