Multiple shots were fired into an apartment in Södertälje on Monday evening. Following a major police operation, a person has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
– We have deployed all available resources: helicopters, canine units, SWAT teams, and other standard resources, said Ola Österling after the shooting.
A 16-year-old girl, stopped in a taxi, is now suspected of attempted murder, reports Aftonbladet.
Police were alerted to the shooting in the Grusåsen district around 10:30 PM on Monday.
Several witnesses reported seeing someone shoot at a balcony and a window of an apartment a few floors up in the building.
– A person was seen shooting into the apartment and then fleeing, said police spokesperson Ola Österling.
The police are investigating the incident as attempted murder and aggravated weapons offense.
Extensive Police Hunt for the Shooter
A large area has been cordoned off, and forensic experts are on their way. No one is reported injured at this time, according to the police.
Around midnight, a massive police operation was underway in southern Stockholm in search of the perpetrator.

According to information from Aftonbladet, the police stopped a taxi with a 16-year-old girl inside who was armed. She is suspected of attempted murder, according to the reports.
The police did not confirm the information at midnight.
Suspect Arrested
Shortly after 1 AM, the police stated that the external operation was winding down.
– The external operation is winding down and transitioning to an investigative phase with intelligence gathering and analysis of interviews and video material, says Ola Österling.
– Our forensic technicians are still on site.
Just before 2 AM, the police confirmed that a person, suspected of attempted murder, had been arrested in a vehicle. However, the police have not disclosed the person's gender or age. The arrest took place in another municipality.
