Putin Orders Reinforcement of Finland Border

Vladimir Putin has ordered the strengthening of the border with Finland. This was stated by former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev during a visit to the border between the countries. "We cannot ignore the fact that Finland is a NATO member," he said, according to the Moscow Times.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council, visited the Finnish border on Friday. State media images show him walking around the closed border crossing in Svetogorsk.

"We observed the border. It is quiet, calm. No one is heading anywhere. It is not our decision, but we will see what happens next," he told the Tass news agency.

Medvedev also mentioned that President Vladimir Putin has ordered the strengthening of the border with Finland and that walls and other barriers are being built extensively, according to the Moscow Times.

"We cannot ignore the fact that Finland is a NATO member. This necessitates a change in our military strategies to organize the border and avert any unfriendly actions," he said, according to the newspaper.

Medvedev: "Bullshit"

He also criticized Finland's involvement in the Ukraine war and switched to English when asked about European countries' promises of security guarantees for Ukraine.

"It is complete nonsense. Or to put it in English, it is 'bullshit', or just 'shit', whatever you want to call it," Medvedev said to the state-run Pervyj kanal.

Satellite images have previously shown how Russia is building up on the border with Finland and expanding new air and military bases.
