Protester Disrupt Åkesson's Speech with Controversial Chants

Jimmie Åkesson's speech in Sölvesborg was interrupted today by activists. In clips circulating online, a woman can be heard shouting 'heil Hitler'. She is now suspected of incitement against an ethnic group. The woman claims she said it as a question.

The leader of the Sweden Democrats, Jimmie Åkesson, had just begun his summer speech in Sölvesborg when it was interrupted by activists in the audience.

On cardboard signs, messages such as 'Fuck Israel, fuck Hamas' and 'Jimmie, you are Sweden's answer to Netanyahu' were displayed.

Åkesson paused his speech while the demonstrators were escorted out.

In a video clip published by Svenska Epoch Times, a female demonstrator repeatedly shouts 'heil Hitler' while making an arm gesture.

Police say a woman in her 40s is suspected of incitement against an ethnic group.

– Initially, three people were removed according to the 13th paragraph of the Police Act. Then information emerged that led us to file a report on incitement against an ethnic group, says police spokesperson Patric Fors.

Woman: Deeply Offended

Expressen has contacted the woman, who claims she was reacting to another man who said 'heil Hitler' to her.

– I pointed at the man who said heil Hitler initially. It was a question to him, asking why he said it, she says.

But you said it several times?

– I asked him why he said heil Hitler. He attacked me and tried to pull my arm.

It looks like you are making a Nazi salute while saying it?

– I was pointing at the man who said heil Hitler.

– I have nothing against Jews, she says.

She is now suspected of incitement against an ethnic group.

– I feel very offended. I have requested a defense lawyer.

Patric Fors from the police says the report does not specify what the woman is alleged to have done. Besides the woman, no one else is suspected of any crime or has filed a report from the scene.
