A propeller plane has crashed into a tree outside Örkelljunga. Two people were on board, and a woman in her 60s has been taken to the hospital.
"It had just taken off but lost altitude several times before crashing," says Niklas Stillman, 52, who witnessed the incident.
The alarm about the crash came in at 15:46. Rescue services, police, ambulance, and the Sea and Air Rescue Center rushed to the scene, just north of the airfield outside Skånes Fagerhult near Örkelljunga.
"A small plane has crashed into a tree at the site," says the Sea and Air Rescue Center's operations manager.
Heard the Crash – Rushed to Help
Niklas Stillman, 52, has a summer cottage near the airfield where the plane crashed. From his property, he saw the plane struggling shortly after takeoff.
"It had just lifted off but lost altitude several times before crashing into a tree," says Niklas Stillman, who witnessed the accident.
He heard the crash and quickly ran to the site, along with several others.
"We were a whole group that went there to help and called the rescue services."
Woman Hospitalized – Man Trapped in Plane
In the plane, he saw the two people, a man and a woman, seemingly trapped. When the rescue services arrived, they worked to get them down from the tree.
The woman, in her 60s, has been taken to the hospital by ambulance. The pilot, a man in his 70s, remains in the plane, according to the police.
Rescue services continue to work to get the man down.
