A 36-year-old man in Gothenburg has been fined for insulting a female police officer, marking the first conviction under Sweden's new law against insulting public officials.

A man called a female police officer a derogatory term during an intervention. He has now been fined under the new law against insulting public officials.
A 36-year-old man has been convicted by the Gothenburg District Court after calling a female police officer a derogatory term.
The man has admitted to the offense.
He has been sentenced to 60 daily fines of 50 kronor each, totaling 3,000 kronor. He is also required to pay 10,000 kronor in damages to the insulted officer, as well as 1,000 kronor to the crime victim fund.
"Don't worry about my name, you whore."
"Lock me up for life, you whore."
"Shoot me in the head, you whore."
These are the words the man was seen shouting at the officer in a clip published by TV4.
However, he has been acquitted of charges of attempted violence against a public official and assault.
