Tens of thousands marched in the spirit of love on Saturday, but only one government party leader participated in this year's Pride parade, sparking anger from Magdalena Andersson (S).
"It shows their priorities, and it's very unfortunate," she said.
On Saturday afternoon, the largest Pride parade in the Nordics took place, with several politicians joining the march. However, neither Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) nor Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch (KD) were present, drawing criticism from the opposition.
"It shows their priorities. It's very unfortunate, especially when you're in a government completely dependent on the Sweden Democrats," said S-leader Magdalena Andersson from the parade.
"Challenging Everyone's Equal Rights"
She further emphasized the growing importance of showing support for the rainbow symbol.
"Authoritarian forces and right-wing powers are challenging everyone's equal rights. So it feels particularly important to be here this year."
The only government party leader who participated in this year's parade was Simona Mohamsson (L). For her, it was a given.
"All liberal ministers are here. We march for love. We always participate in the Pride parade for the values we need to stand up for every day," she said.
