Uncertainty Surrounds Johan Forssell's Current Role as Minister
The government is avoiding questions about whether Johan Forssell is still actively serving. They also refuse to confirm his attendance at the latest cabinet meeting.
Over a week ago, Expo revealed that a government minister has a close relative involved in far-right circles. This relative is in their early teens.
The minister in question is Migration Minister Johan Forssell (M). On Wednesday, Expressen reported that the Left Party plans to summon him to the Social Insurance Committee as soon as parliament reconvenes, due to his relative's connections.
However, whether the minister is currently working remains unclear.
Government Dodges the Question
The government is not directly answering whether Johan Forssell is still in service, as first reported by Dagens ETC. Last week, a cabinet meeting was held, and they also do not confirm if the minister attended.
When Expressen asked the government if Johan Forssell is in service, the response was:
"Ministers are always in service. A minister is not an employee in the labor law sense, but a remunerated appointee. Being a minister is a role that applies around the clock, every day of the year," writes the press service.
"Unfortunately, I Cannot Answer"
To the direct question of whether Forssell attended last week's cabinet meeting, the response was:
"Regarding your question about the cabinet meeting, it is true that which ministers participate in a cabinet meeting is recorded in the main protocol. Since the main protocol is not yet finalized, there is no public document to access, and unfortunately, I cannot answer when the main protocol will be completed."
According to ETC, the protocol from the meeting will not be public for a couple of months. The newspaper has asked "several of the government's press secretaries," all of whom refer to the protocol despite being able to easily confirm if the minister attended the meeting.
