Injury Forces Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman to Withdraw from Beach Pro Tour Malmö

Swedish Olympic gold medalists Jonatan Hellvig and David Åhman will not compete in the semifinals of the Beach Pro Tour Malmö. The duo has withdrawn after Hellvig suffered an injury.

"We are very disappointed to have to withdraw from the tournament," the pair stated.

On Sunday, the beach volleyball duo was set to compete for top positions with the final as their goal. However, this will not happen.

Instead, the Swedish hopes now rest on the duo Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson. The audience will miss the chance to witness an all-Swedish final due to Jonatan Hellvig's injury.

"We are very disappointed to have to withdraw from the tournament but do not want to risk worsening something that could affect the rest of the season. It has been fantastic to play in front of all the Swedish fans, and now we want everyone to cheer for Jacke and Elmer," Åhman and Hellvig said in a statement.

Hölting Nilsson and Andersson will play their semifinal at 11:30 AM.
