Fredrik Malm Criticizes Palestinian Movement in Sweden
Swedish MP Fredrik Malm (L) finds it "unreasonable" that Palestinian demonstrations are considered a normal part of Swedish freedom of expression. "The Palestinian movement in Sweden is violent, antisemitic, and Islamist," he writes on X.
The Liberal Party has long been one of Sweden's most pro-Israel parties. One of its members who frequently engages in foreign policy issues is Fredrik Malm. He is the chairman of the parliamentary education committee and today launches a sharp attack on the Swedish Palestinian movement.
In a social media post, he describes how he reached his conclusion about the movement. He writes that he lives near Odenplan in Stockholm, where many demonstrations on the issue have been held.
"For the past 18 months, I have not been able to be in the center of my own neighborhood on weekends due to Islamist and communist demonstrations against Israel," he writes.
Called a Murderer and Zionist
In his post, Fredrik Malm lists several incidents where he has been disturbed by demonstrators, whom he describes as "aggressive" and "hateful." Among other things, he says he has been called a "genocidal" and "Zionist."
"The same applies to my workplace, the parliament. For a year, I have been forced to use other entrances due to hateful, Islamist, aggressive so-called demonstrators," Malm continues.
In the post, Fredrik Malm also questions how Palestinian demonstrations can be seen as a normal expression in a country with freedom of speech, calling this "unreasonable."
"These are violent actions directed both against Israel and against Sweden," he writes.
