Former C-Politician Gustav Hemming Loses Pension After Conviction

The former C-politician Gustav Hemming has left politics following his conviction for sexual misconduct involving a minor.

On June 27, former regional politician Gustav Hemming was sentenced to a conditional sentence for sexual misconduct involving a minor after masturbating in front of a 13-year-old on the Roslagsbanan in Stockholm.

The crime was revealed on TV3's 'Efterlyst', and Hemming resigned shortly thereafter, ending an 18-year career as a regional politician.

Earlier this year, Region Stockholm's remuneration committee decided that Gustav Hemming was entitled to a temporary pension of 77,594 SEK per month from December 1, 2024, until September 30, 2037, at the latest.

A total of approximately 11.9 million SEK was contingent on Hemming not being convicted, as previously reported by Expressen.

"If he is convicted of a crime of a certain severity committed during his time as an elected official, there are grounds for the regional council to decide, according to the conditions in PRF-KL, that the temporary pension should no longer be paid," states the decision supported by all parties in the region.

Receives 634,969 SEK

The verdict against Hemming became legally binding on July 19, and on August 26, Region Stockholm made the formal decision to stop the payments, writes Mitt i. The final decision will be ratified by the regional council in a few weeks.

In total, Hemming receives 634,969 SEK that the region managed to pay out from his resignation until July.

Amounts paid out after July 19 will have to be repaid by Gustav Hemming, the newspaper reports.

Gustav Hemming has admitted to masturbating in front of the young boy but claimed he thought the boy was older and that there was mutual contact.

Expressen is seeking Gustav Hemming.
