Eyewitness Ulf, 65: 'A Stroller Flew Through the Air'
Ulf Strindlöv, 65, was sitting in his car in central Malmö when the car in front of him skidded, mounted the sidewalk, and plowed into a crowd.
"It was shocking. A stroller flew through the air, and I could see him hitting people," he says.
Four people have been taken to the hospital, including two children, one of whom is seriously injured.
It was when he entered the intersection between Föreningsgatan and Amiralsgatan that Ulf Strindlöv noticed the car in front behaving strangely.
Suddenly, it swerved violently, as if it lost control, he recounts.
"The car made an extreme acceleration and skidded so that it hit the curb with the right rear wheel. Then it drove into several people with the side of the car."
In a matter of seconds, a dramatic tumult arose, with people on the sidewalk trying to flee from the car.
"It was shocking. A stroller flew through the air, and I could see him hitting people."
From the sidewalk, the driver then skidded again and returned to the roadway, says Ulf Strindlöv. The car had punctured two tires and stopped by the roadside.
"I then sped after him and swerved my car in front of him so he couldn't drive away. He tried to get out of the car, but I held the door for safety until the police arrived."
Four people were injured, including two children, with at least one of them seriously. Ulf Strindlöv feels shaken after the incident.
"Everything happened so quickly, but it felt extremely traumatic. It was so totally unexpected," he says.
"Now I just hope that no one was seriously injured."
