Explosion in Gothenburg: One Hospitalized After Nighttime Blast

During the night leading into Saturday, an explosion occurred at the entrance of an apartment building in Hammarkullen, Gothenburg. One person has been taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The police were alerted to the explosion at around 3:20 AM.

"There is damage to the property, and it was initially quite smoky there. We are fully cooperating with the emergency services," said Sanna Lagerkvist, the duty officer at the police.

"We are on site with both technicians and the bomb squad, and the area is cordoned off," said Sanna Lagerkvist.

As of 4:40 AM, the building had not been evacuated.

"We are in dialogue with the emergency services about whether it is necessary. This is due to the smoke, not because of significant damage to the property."

No one has been arrested, and the police have not yet classified the incident.
