The wildfires continue to wreak havoc in Turkey, with at least 14 people losing their lives.

"I express my deep gratitude to our brave personnel who put their whole heart into this fight," said President Erdogan, according to the Anadolu news agency.

Extreme temperatures and strong winds are behind the rapid spread of wildfires across large parts of Turkey.

On Sunday, 84 fires started across the country, with only five under control.

A total of 27 planes, 105 helicopters, 6,000 fire trucks, 25,000 firefighters, and 132,000 volunteers are battling the flames.

"May God grant success to these heroes. I also pray for the souls of all our brothers and sisters who lost their lives in the fight against these fires. May they rest in peace," said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to the Anadolu news agency.

The area around Antalya, a popular destination for Swedes, is also affected. The region is largely in risk zone one, the most severe classification.

A total of 14 people have died, 12 of them firefighters.

"I express my deep gratitude to our brave personnel who put their whole heart into this fight," said Erdogan, according to Anadolu.

Turkey's fourth-largest city, Bursa, is perhaps the most fire-ravaged. Images from the weekend show the city surrounded by flames.

According to the country's forestry authority, one of the larger fires has been extinguished, but people are still being evacuated from the area.
