Chaos at Gröna Lund: 50 People Rescued from Concert Crowd
Four hours before Veronica Maggio took the stage, Gröna Lund closed its entrance. The park was already at full capacity, and people in front of the stage were pleading for help.
"We had 53 people lifted out, 30 of them before the concert even started, and many had been waiting for a long time," says Annika Troselius, press manager at Parks and Resorts.
By 3:45 PM on Friday, Gröna Lund was preparing to close the entrance for the evening's concert with Veronica Maggio. At that point, 17,000 tickets had been sold. Social media is now flooded with clips showing people climbing over fences, and comments from visitors report fainting and theft in the queue.
However, Annika Troselius, press manager at Parks and Resorts, does not recognize these reports.
"The information I have is that it went smoothly during the closure outside," she tells Expressen.
The police were also not present during the afternoon.
53 People Rescued
Annika Troselius confirms that concert security had to intervene in front of the stage both before and during the concert.
"We had 53 people lifted out, 30 of them before the concert started, and many had been waiting for a long time. It was very hot. We encouraged everyone to eat and drink, and we also ensure that all our concertgoers receive water. But of course, not everyone does that, and not everyone can stand or sit for so long and wait.
Most of those who received help were exhausted but were in good condition.
"They get to sit down and rest. We have an area behind the stage where there is water, chocolate, popcorn, and blankets. And many want to go back in after they have rested for a while."
