Two young Swedish women, Selma and Johlene, faced a nightmare during their Turkish vacation when they were ejected from their hotel after complaining about a filthy room. Despite their pleas for clean linens, hotel staff accused them of causing the mess and expelled them shortly after check-in. With no help from the hotel or their travel agency, the women were left stranded and are now seeking compensation through legal channels.

Young Tourists Ejected from Turkish Hotel After Complaining About Filthy Room
Two young Swedish women, Selma and Johlene, were ejected from their hotel room in Turkey after complaining about the mess and dirt.
Their charter trip to Turkey ended in disaster. The hotel room they booked was unavailable, and they had to pay extra for a new one.
– When we arrived at the room, we were met with an extremely dirty and damaged room. The beds were covered with ingrained bloodstains. The towels were the same. It was really disgusting, Selma recounts.
They went down to the reception to complain and asked for at least clean sheets – but the hotel staff refused.
– When we tried to make the best of the situation, the manager came up, forced his way into the room, and took pictures of us trying to tidy up. He blamed us and said we had messed up and destroyed the room, says Selma.
The manager then said their attitude was unacceptable, and the girls were ejected – just 30 minutes after checking in.
"Never Been So Worried"
Now, Selma and Johlene found themselves completely alone, late at night, with dead phones and no hotel.
– It was terrible, to say the least. I've probably never been so worried and sad, and my friend just cried.
The hotel promised to help the girls with hotel suggestions – but they didn't. Instead, Selma and Johlene had to find a solution themselves.
– If it weren't for our parents, we wouldn't have been able to afford a new hotel or food, and we would have ended up on the street, says Selma.
No Help from the Travel Agency
Selma and Johlene have demanded a refund from the travel agency Neckermann Nordic – which refuses.
– They go by the manager's story that it's our fault. We've sent pictures and everything, but they think we've broken their rules and say we haven't behaved well, says Selma.
Yesterday, they received a response from the hotel that they will not get their money back, and now the girls will report the incident to the National Board for Consumer Disputes (ARN).
Expressen is seeking comments from Neckermann Nordic.
