Viktor Orbán Criticizes Swedish Government: Claims of Collapse
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has launched an attack on Sweden in a post on X. He claims that over 280 underage Swedish girls have been arrested for murder in the country. "A country once known for order and safety is now collapsing," he writes.
Viktor Orbán is harsh in his criticism of the Swedish government, accusing it of hypocrisy when it criticizes the rule of law in Hungary.
"Meanwhile, criminal networks exploit Swedish children as murderers, knowing the system will not convict them, according to an article in Die Welt," writes the Hungarian leader.
By referencing the article, he claims that over 280 underage girls have been arrested for murder in Sweden. However, this is not what Die Welt reports. Their article states that approximately 280 girls aged 15 to 17 were investigated for murder, manslaughter, or "other violent crimes" last year.
Orbán also publishes a video clip where he elaborates on his reasoning.
"This is how a country collapses. Every law, all order, falls apart. The only thing left is barbarism," he says in the video.
Ulf Kristersson hits back hard in a post on X.
"These are exaggerated lies. It is not surprising that it comes from a man who is dismantling the rule of law in his own country. Orbán is desperate ahead of the upcoming election in Hungary," he writes.
