Uppsala's Fountains Turn Green: Mystery Unfolds

A mysterious color is spreading among Uppsala's fountains, reports P4 Uppland. The water has turned green—and this isn't the first time.

The source or person responsible for the mysterious color remains unclear.

However, this isn't the first time the fountains have turned green. Last year, the municipality theorized that someone had poured food coloring into the water.

Johannes Eriksson, the municipality's unit manager for the street unit, also believes this year's coloring is due to the same reason.

– Someone has poured something in, it's vandalism, he says.

The fountains will be emptied and cleaned before being refilled with fresh water.

Johannes Eriksson does not believe the color is harmful.

– We don't know what they poured in, but it doesn't seem to be a very strong dye, as it doesn't stain.
