Ukrainian Man Arrested for Nord Stream Pipeline Explosion

Italian police have arrested a Ukrainian man suspected of the explosion of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, reports Der Spiegel.

The man was apprehended in Brindisi and will be requested for extradition by Germany.

He is suspected of coordinating the explosion and was reportedly on the boat when the sabotage occurred off Bornholm in the fall of 2022, writes Der Spiegel.

In German media, he is referred to as “Serhiy K”.

He is believed to be part of a five-person crew that set sail on the yacht Andromeda on September 6. He is suspected of causing explosions, anti-constitutional sabotage, and destruction of facilities.

Expressen, in collaboration with German media, previously revealed that a German court had issued a warrant for a Ukrainian diver suspected of the Nord Stream sabotage in the fall of 2022. At the time of the revelation, two other individuals had been formally identified as suspects.

The man now arrested is not one of them.
