The UK has declared its readiness for armed confrontation in response to Russian violations of NATO airspace. Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper emphasized the threat posed by Russia's actions, warning of potential direct conflict between NATO and Russia. Poland and other NATO countries support this stance, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

UK Ready for Armed Confrontation Over NATO Airspace Violations
UK Ready for Armed Confrontation
The tone against Russia and its violations of NATO airspace is intensifying. The UK has now stated that it is prepared for armed confrontation.
– If we need to confront aircraft that are in NATO airspace without permission, we will do so, says Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper.
In recent weeks, Russian fighter jets have violated the airspace of both Estonia and Poland.
On Monday, Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the country is ready to shoot down any objects that violate Poland's territory.
– I must be completely sure that all allies treat this in exactly the same way, he says according to Reuters.
And several NATO countries support him – including the UK.
– They are opening the door to direct armed confrontation between NATO and Russia, says Foreign Minister Yvette Cooper in the UN Security Council according to Reuters.
"Don't Come Here and Whine About It"
She argues that "Russia's imperialist war-mongering poses a threat to international peace and security."
– To President Putin, I want to say that your reckless actions risk a direct armed confrontation between NATO and Russia. Our alliance is defensive, but have no illusions, says Cooper.
– We are prepared to take all necessary measures to defend NATO's airspace and territory. We are vigilant.
Poland's Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski is even harsher in tone at the UN building.
– If another missile or aircraft enters NATO airspace and is shot down, don't come here and whine about it, he says according to The Guardian.
