Two Men Shot in Car North of Stockholm

Two men in their 20s were shot in a car near a school in Järfälla municipality, north of Stockholm, early Wednesday morning. Police are now investigating attempted murder and serious weapons offenses.

– I heard shots, I think there were five or six, says a local resident.

The men were in a car near a school when they were shot at. A large police operation was launched, and police later cordoned off an area near a gas station in Viksjö.

Images from the scene show a car within the cordoned area and many police vehicles.

– We received calls at a quarter to three that people had heard several bangs. Someone shot at a car, and two men in their 20s were injured, says police spokesperson Nadya Norton.

The men do not have life-threatening injuries. One of them has been taken to the hospital by ambulance.

– We have been able to talk to them, says Nadya Norton.

A preliminary investigation into attempted murder and serious weapons offenses has been initiated.

– We have checked individuals, but no one is currently in custody, says Nadya Norton.

“Heard Shots”

A man living near the school heard the bangs during the night.

– I heard shots, I think there were five or six. I opened the window and heard some voices, but then nothing more, he says.

Residents in the area describe it as a quiet residential area. A mother who just dropped off her child at preschool says the shooting makes her anxious.

– It feels uncomfortable, it was so close. I will definitely not let my children be outside when it's dark, she says.

A mother of two who lives right by the gas station says:

– It's very unsettling, it really creeps closer. I have children and don't want them to be out riding scooters alone.

Second Incident in Järfälla This Week
