TUI Flight Forced to Land

The journey home to Gothenburg from Gran Canaria ended earlier than expected. A passenger behaved so badly that the pilot was forced to land. Now, all passengers must wait until tomorrow before they can return home.

At 20:20, the Gran Canaria travelers were supposed to be back on Swedish soil. Instead, the plane is in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. This occurred after a woman behaved so disruptively that the flight could not continue.

"The pilot assessed that it was serious enough that we had to remove this person," says Adam Györki, TUI's Head of Communications.

"She had some kind of outburst, screamed, started hitting people, and banged on walls. Children cried, and those sitting nearby had to vacate their seats," says a passenger who spoke to Aftonbladet.

According to several passengers, the violent woman allegedly hit another passenger on the head.

After the person and another in her company were escorted off, it took additional time to locate their checked-in luggage.

Moreover, planes that land with a full tank, as was the case here, must follow safety regulations before they can take off again.

"It has taken so long that we need to wait until tomorrow before we can fly," says Adam Györki.

Therefore, the passengers on the plane will spend the night in a hotel in Spain instead of their beds at home.
