Travel Agency Warns: Scam SMS Circulating in TUI's Name
Messages appearing to be from TUI are currently being spread via email and SMS. The travel agency warns that these are scams.
"Unfortunately, this is not the first time," says Dian Valencia at TUI.
In a statement on its website, TUI warns that fraudulent messages are currently being spread in the company's name. These involve fake confirmations for credit card orders, travel bookings, or gift cards.
The aim is for the recipient, who has not ordered or booked anything, to call a number provided in the message. This is when the scam begins, reports Råd & Rön.
In an email to Expressen, Dian Valencia, TUI's communications manager, states that they are aware of recent fraud attempts.
"We discovered this when we received calls from several people who received these SMS. We do not know how many have received them, but we strongly advise against calling the number or providing any personal information."
He further writes that those unsure if they have received a scam message can contact the company's customer service.
"Unfortunately, this is not the first time there are fake SMS and emails claiming to be from TUI."
People who have received fake messages from TUI are urged to contact the police.
