Tram's Wrong Turn in Gothenburg: Near Miss on the Tracks
A potentially dangerous situation unfolded when tram line 5 in eastern Gothenburg reportedly traveled on the wrong side of the tracks on Tuesday morning, according to Göteborgs-Posten. Near the Ekmanska stop, the tram driver was forced to slam on the brakes to avoid a collision with another tram, as recounted by passengers.
"The driver apologized and said no one could disembark," a passenger told GP.
The driver then spoke with the operator of the other tram, admitting they were unaware of being on the wrong side.
The tram had already appeared on the wrong side at the previous stop, Sankt Sigfrids plan, but signaled for passengers to board, according to the passenger.
Västtrafik confirmed to the newspaper that a serious incident occurred at the Ekmanska stop, with two trams ending up on the same track.
However, no collision took place, stated Patrik Chi, press communicator at Västtrafik, to GP.
