Two drowning incidents occurred in Sörmland on Saturday. A child died in a drowning accident in Katrineholm. The same evening, a man in his 60s perished in a drowning in Strängnäs.
At around 6 PM on Saturday, police and rescue services were alerted that a child had disappeared near the water at Djulö in Katrineholm. Upon arrival, they found the child in the water, who was then transported to the hospital by air ambulance. Unfortunately, the child's life could not be saved.
– It is an incredibly tragic event. Our emergency colleagues did everything in their power to save this child, says police spokesperson Olle Älveroth.
Man Drowned in Strängnäs
In Stallarholmen outside Strängnäs, a man in his 60s drowned the same evening. According to the police, he was out swimming but did not return.
The rescue service found the man's clothes upon arrival, and later a diver discovered the man deceased at the bottom.
