Tourists Misled by False Facts on Gothenburg's Paddan Tour
Tourists in Gothenburg are being misinformed during the Paddan boat tour, reports P4 Göteborg. Among the inaccuracies, passengers are told that the Hisingsbron was inspired by Star Wars.
"This is not part of our standard script; it sounds like a guide has added their own input," says Fredrik Duveskog from Strömma Göteborg to the radio station.
P4 Göteborg received tips that incorrect information about Gothenburg is being spread on the so-called Paddan tour, a boat tour organized by Strömma.
For instance, it is claimed that the Hisingsbron was inspired by Star Wars and that the Radio House was designed to resemble a camera.
The architect behind the building refutes this comparison.
"The idea of a camera was never considered; the shape of the building is more about the location and how to best exploit the view," says the building's architect, Stefan Tjäder, to P4 Göteborg.
Strömma: Not Part of the Script
When P4 investigated, it was found that the camera comparison was mentioned on four tours and the Star Wars comparison on one tour.
Strömma Göteborg states that guides follow a script and that they correct errors when discovered.
"We are entrusted with ensuring much of what we say is accurate. We correct what is wrong when we discover it," says Fredrik Duveskog, area manager for Strömma Göteborg, to P4 Göteborg.
He tells TV4:
"It is a misunderstanding.
"There are parts of our tours where we recount tales and anecdotes, but in this case, it wasn't clear enough that it was just that," he says.
