Top Republican Claims: 'Trump Was an FBI Informant'
"Donald Trump was an FBI informant," stated House Speaker Mike Johnson unexpectedly in front of a group of journalists when pressed about the Epstein scandal. This unusual claim follows the division within the MAGA movement regarding the non-disclosure of the investigation.
It was on Friday that top Republican Mike Johnson was questioned about President Donald Trump's handling of the classified parts of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's pedophilia case.
The Unusual Statement
The clip, reported by Fox News among others, shows Johnson asserting that the president has been misunderstood and has full empathy for Epstein's victims.
However, Johnson suddenly claims that Trump "was an FBI informant" who tried to expose Epstein and that the president expelled Epstein from his Mar-a-Lago resort when he first heard the rumors about Epstein.
The notion that Trump worked as an FBI informant is not an explanation previously given by the president himself. Instead, he has stated that he banned Epstein from the resort and ended their dealings because Epstein attempted to steal his employees.
Epstein was found dead in a federal jail cell in New York while awaiting trial on August 10, 2019.
