Top Aide to Swedish Trade Minister Resigns Amid Allegations
Sweden's Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa's closest aide, Håkan Jevrell, has resigned. The announcement follows an investigation by the TV program "Kalla fakta" into his stock holdings. Jevrell himself states that his resignation is due to seeking a job at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Recently, the TV program "Kalla fakta" reported that State Secretary Håkan Jevrell owns shares in companies he promotes through his job.
Jevrell, who is the closest associate of Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M), negotiated a trade agreement with India. In India, he met with representatives from companies including Ericsson, Atlas Copco, Sandvik, and Volvo, while owning shares worth half a million kronor in these companies, according to "Kalla fakta."
Jevrell: "Applied for a Position"
In a message on LinkedIn, Jevrell cites entirely different reasons for leaving his position as State Secretary.
He writes:
"I applied for a position within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' organization some time ago. To be part of that process, I will leave the role of State Secretary and return to my original position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
Benjamin Dousa comments:
"Håkan Jevrell has been seeking another position within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' organization for some time. To be part of that process, he will leave the role of State Secretary and return to his original position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Håkan Jevrell's extensive experience and knowledge have been of great importance to Sweden as we navigated new trade policy challenges. I want to extend a big thank you to Håkan and wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
