Three Brawls Erupt at Skåne Beaches in Just Two Hours

In Åhus, Bara, and Perstorp, brawls broke out at beaches on Wednesday.

After a cool summer, the weather finally turned suitable for swimming. However, in some areas, the heat seemed to have escalated tensions, particularly in Skåne.

In less than two hours, police in the southern region had to respond to no fewer than three brawls at beaches.

At 3:42 PM, several alarms were received from the outdoor section of Ugglebadet in Perstorp. Callers reported witnessing people fighting in a pool.

– Both adults and children were reportedly involved in the brawl or fight in the pool, says Evelina Olsson, police spokesperson.

Half an hour after the alarms, police arrived at the scene. By then, all involved had fled. It is unclear if any were injured. A report of assault was filed based on witness accounts, but none of the individuals are named.

At 5:07 PM, another alarm was received about multiple people fighting at the outdoor pool in Bara, outside Svedala. Upon arrival, police found two families in conflict.

Three Beach Brawls in Two Hours

After police mediation, the situation calmed down. No report was filed after this brawl.

However, the response to the beach pier in Åhus ended on a worse note.

At 5:25 PM, an alarm was received about an 18-year-old being assaulted on a beach pier. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Meanwhile, police gathered witness statements from others at the scene.

According to the police, the injuries were minor.

– As I understand it, he was taken to the hospital for observation. He was awake and communicative, says Evelina Olsson of the police.

She agrees that three beach brawls in two hours in Skåne is an extreme outcome of the summer weather.

– All three brawls occurred late in the afternoon. We have had extremely nice weather in Skåne today, so the heat may have contributed to people being tired and irritable, leading to conflicts, she says.
