Tesla's Decline Continues in the Swedish Market as Volvo Dominates

Tesla's market share in Sweden continues to plummet, while Volvo Cars solidifies its position as the top choice among Swedish car buyers, according to August figures from Mobility Sweden. The total number of newly registered passenger cars increased to 20,168 during the month, a 6% year-on-year rise.

For the Volvo XC60, which topped the list of models registered in August, there was a 68% year-on-year increase to 858 new registrations. Volvo Cars also secured the second spot with the Volvo EX/XC40 among the most registered cars.

For Tesla, the outlook is much bleaker. The Tesla Model Y plummeted by 87% year-on-year to 141 registrations in August, while the Tesla Model 3 fell 73% to 67 registrations, and both the Tesla Model X and Model S recorded only 1 registration each.

The report also shows that the bus market is growing year-on-year, while light trucks have decreased for the sixteenth consecutive month, according to Mobility Sweden's monthly figures.

The share of rechargeable cars amounted to 59% of new registrations in August.

Heavy truck registrations increased by 2.7% in August compared to last year, reaching 378 vehicles, according to Mobility Sweden.
