Tension in 'Edvins Lustgård': Edvin Törnblom Faces Awkward Moments
Some guests were more demanding than others. In Edvin's garden, the atmosphere turned tense, and Edvin Törnblom became irritated.
In Monday's episode of 'Edvins Lustgård', the atmosphere became awkward.
"Some guests were more demanding than others, so to speak. It was a very special recording," Edvin said with a laugh when Expressen met him at a hotel in central Stockholm.
The awkward moment occurred between foreign correspondent Henrik Brandão Jönsson and artist Oscar Zia.
"It was a fight. Or a fight and a fight. It got really tense," said Edvin Törnblom, continuing:
"Oscar was going to sit at the breakfast table, and on the way, he overheard Henrik talking about the dinner the night before, or 'talking trash' about me and Oscar. He thought that Oscar and I were competing for attention all the time."
He said the atmosphere was incredibly tense.
"It's not like they were yelling at each other. The atmosphere was more like, I came up there in the morning and was completely shocked. It was real, not something made up, not exaggerated, no constructed reality," said Edvin.
Brandão: The Criticism Was Directed at Oscar
Edvin felt slightly uncomfortable and didn't quite know how to handle it.
"I mean, as the host, I have to maintain some kind of neutral tone. But then maybe I also got annoyed with Henrik because I don't think Oscar and I are trying to outdo each other or fight over who gets the most attention."
This all happened six or seven days into the recording.
"So I was so damn tired and done with everything. Completely exhausted. So I felt more like: 'Hello, we need to pull ourselves together.' I knew Oscar was leaving that morning. He is a private friend, so it felt a bit awkward because he was also a very secure point for me there."
In a message to Expressen, Henrik Brandão Jönsson wrote that he didn't feel the atmosphere was that tense the next day.
"It wasn't as awkward at breakfast as claimed. My criticism was directed at Oscar, not Edvin. Edvin is an excellent host," he wrote.
Edvin: We Fooled the Celebrities
Edvin explains that nothing during the recording is arranged, and unlike similar shows, the team let the cameras roll, and the guests acted naturally without direct direction.
"We were just there recording reality one hundred percent. We realized we had tricked twenty-eight celebrities into coming to Gotland, thinking they would be part of a talk show. But then we filmed reality. Honestly."
"The difficult part was that we couldn't plan what we would get. That's why the different episodes vary so much. I didn't want a show like: 'Now this person will come and talk about their trauma.' We just went for it, and I think it turned out great."
