Two 13-year-olds were hired in Nyköping to bomb a pizzeria. Four men were sentenced to prison by the Nyköping District Court. Now, several of them have been acquitted by the Court of Appeal.

In January, two 13-year-old boys were stopped by police outside a pizzeria in Nyköping. The boys had a live hand grenade, which, according to the investigation, was intended to be thrown at the pizzeria.

The attack was thwarted, but a day later, a 19-year-old man threw a hand grenade at the pizzeria.

The 19-year-old was sentenced by the district court to nine years in prison for gross public endangerment and for involving the 13-year-old boys in criminal activity.

The Court of Appeal has now reduced the sentence to six years and acquitted him of planning the attack.

A 36-year-old, who received a three-year prison sentence in the district court, is acquitted of all charges related to the explosion. Instead, he receives six months in prison for drug offenses on another occasion.

The 28-year-old man who received three and a half years for recruiting the boys is acquitted of public endangerment. He now avoids prison but receives a conditional sentence for involving a minor in criminal activity.

A 22-year-old man is completely acquitted. His DNA was found on the grenade, but according to the Court of Appeal, it was insufficient for a conviction.
