A young man was shot on Saturday evening in Sätra, Stockholm. The man was airlifted to the hospital by ambulance helicopter. During the evening, police apprehended a minor suspected of the shooting.
"It is a boy under 15 years old," says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson.
At 19:16 on Saturday evening, witnesses reported a shooting in a residential area in Sätra, southern Stockholm.
Police and ambulance were dispatched to the scene, where it was confirmed that a man had been shot outdoors.
"Witnesses found a young man with gunshot wounds and began life-saving measures," says police spokesperson Mats Eriksson.
The injured man was then airlifted to the hospital.
At the request of the police, all trains at Bredäng station have been stopped until further notice.
Large Police Operation in Southern Stockholm
Following the incident, the police have deployed a large number of resources to the area to speak with witnesses and search for the shooter.
A police helicopter is hovering over southern Stockholm.
"A manhunt for the perpetrator is underway. We have a large deployment of resources out searching," says Mats Eriksson.
At 20:35, the police announced that a suspect had been apprehended for the shooting.
"It is a boy under 15 years old," says Mats Eriksson.
The incident is being investigated as attempted murder.
The police continue their operation on Saturday evening, having checked several individuals and brought in many for questioning regarding the incident.
