Teen Girl Suspected of Attempted Murder After Bringing Knife to Classroom

A teenage girl is suspected of attempted murder at a school in Håbo municipality after she reportedly entered a classroom with a knife.

– No one was physically harmed, says prosecutor Sara Sundström.

The incident occurred on Monday morning when police were alerted to a school in Håbo municipality due to a child being armed with a knife.

Enköpings-Posten reports that the incident took place at a school in Bålsta, where the child entered a classroom of eighth graders with the knife.

Prosecutor Sara Sundström, who is leading the investigation, states that the suspect is a child over twelve but under fifteen years old. This means that a standard preliminary investigation is not conducted, but rather an investigation according to Section 31 of the LUL (Act on Special Provisions for Young Offenders).

Teenage Girl Suspected

According to Expressen's information, the suspect is a girl. Enköpings-Posten also reports similar information.

– A non-criminally responsible person was found armed with a knife at a school. The knife was not used, and no one was physically harmed, says Sara Sundström.

Police are now interviewing witnesses and the victim(s). However, the prosecutor does not wish to disclose who the victim(s) are, citing investigation confidentiality. She also does not want to specify the type of knife or how serious the situation was.

School: Serious Incident

The school informed Enköpings-Posten that a 'serious incident' occurred, involving a person who acted threateningly, which those involved found disturbing. Students were sent home and offered support after the incident.

The girl has been taken into custody.

– She was taken into custody at the time of the incident, says Sara Sundström.

According to the police, the child is suspected of attempted murder.
