Teen Girl Sentenced for Stabbing on Eslöv Bus

A teenage girl was seriously injured after being stabbed by a 15-year-old girl on a bus in Eslöv. The 15-year-old has now been sentenced to one year and four months of juvenile detention for attempted murder.

On the evening of April 3, the 15-year-old attacked a 17-year-old girl on a bus in Eslöv. The bus was stationary at a stop near the train station when the attack occurred. The assailant delivered at least eight stab wounds to the 17-year-old, with at least six being critical.

The 17-year-old was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, including a life-threatening stab wound to the back.

Today, the verdict was announced. Lund District Court determined that, considering her age, the 15-year-old's sentence would be juvenile detention for one year and four months. She is also ordered to pay 270,000 kronor in damages to the 17-year-old victim.

– The evidence shows that the 15-year-old traveled to Eslöv to confront the 17-year-old, armed herself with a knife borrowed from one of the co-defendants, and stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso, including the back. The court concluded that the 15-year-old, despite her age, must have realized the significant risk of the victim dying from the stab wound to the back and was indifferent to the possibility of her death at the time of the act, said Judge Ingegärd Lind, the court's chairman, in a press release.

The 15-year-old admitted to stabbing the 17-year-old but denied any intent to kill her. The girls are acquainted with each other.

21-Year-Old Sentenced for Instigation

Four other individuals were charged as accomplices in the incident. A 21-year-old man for instigating attempted murder and three teenage boys for aiding.

According to the indictment, the 21-year-old man was the driving force behind the 15-year-old girl's actions, feeling insulted by the victim. He has now been sentenced to three years and six months in prison for instigating aggravated assault.

The boys accompanied the accused girl to the crime scene. One of the accused boys, a 17-year-old, is suspected of providing the knife to the 15-year-old girl and showing her how to use it. He is sentenced for aiding aggravated assault, with a penalty of eleven months in juvenile detention.

Two 16-year-old boys, who participated in the act in different ways – one by filming the incident and the other by being aware of the plans and accompanying as reinforcement – are sentenced for aiding assault. Their penalty is determined as juvenile care.
