Swedish Police Officer Caught in Child Sex Chat Sting by Dumpen

A police officer has fallen into Dumpen's trap after engaging in a sex chat with what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl.

Dumpen is known for setting traps for adults seeking sexual contact with children. By pretending to be children, Dumpen connects with individuals who have a sexual interest in minors. They arrange meetings, after which the individuals are confronted and their details are published on Dumpen's website.

Recently, a Dumpen associate, posing as a 14-year-old girl, was added on Snapchat by a man who turned out to be a police officer.

The man, in his 50s, sent several messages expressing fantasies about raping the child. They arranged to meet at a pizzeria outside the town where he lives.

Upon seeing an adult approach the meeting spot, he quickly drove away. In the chat, he later asked:

"Not your great-aunt in a wide Volvo XC60?"

He then received a message from Dumpen stating that he had been filmed by them and that the footage would be published.

Pay Deduction for Sex Chat with 13-Year-Old

In 2013, the man received a 25% pay deduction for 23 days.

This was due to reports that he had sought contact online with teenage girls for sexual purposes. Investigations were initiated but later dropped, as his actions were not deemed criminal.

One investigation revealed he had sent 173 messages from a police-owned subscription on an internet meeting site. Several messages were sexual in nature, including one directed at a 13-year-old girl.

In discussions with his employer, the man claimed he never intended to meet the girl, but the Personnel Responsibility Board noted that it was bad enough that he showed sexual interest in the girl and a willingness to meet her:

"It is hard to imagine anything, aside from certain criminal acts, that could be considered more indecent, unethical, or otherwise inappropriate."

Police Officer Convicted After Illegal Dumpen Surveillance

Last fall, a police officer in Malmö was convicted of serious data breach after an incident linked to Dumpen. The man had arranged to meet Dumpen, believing it was a 14-year-old boy he had sex-chatted with. To ensure it wasn't a trap, he manipulated the police surveillance camera in the area where the meeting was to take place.

Dumpen has faced criticism for its methods, including the fact that several confronted individuals have taken their own lives and that the stigmatization they face risks affecting their relatives.

Expressen has sought comments from the Police Authority.
