Swedish Ministers' Group Photo Delayed Again at Harpsund
The traditional group photo with all ministers at Harpsund has been delayed once more. Last year, Johan Pehrson from the Liberals was 40 minutes late. This time, the group photo session is postponed by an hour and a half.
At the end of August each year, the government gathers at the Prime Minister's summer residence at Harpsund to kick off the political autumn. The day begins with a photo session with all ministers on the steps at 1 PM.
That's the plan, at least. But both last year and this year, the photo session has been postponed.
Last year, the former Liberal leader Johan Pehrson showed up 40 minutes late in a black Volvo. Other Liberals were also late for unclear reasons.
– Johan Pehrson is often late, said Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson then with a laugh.
This year, the tradition continues. When various media gathered outside the steps at 1 PM on Thursday, the photo session had not yet started. The new scheduled time is 2:30 PM.
Discussing the Budget
During the meeting at Harpsund, the Finance Minister presents the economic conditions for the upcoming budget and the available reform space.
Expressen has previously reported on tough negotiations between the Tidö parties, where sources expected an all-night session before the meeting at Harpsund. The key issue is said to be how best to support household economies – through reduced food VAT or increased child benefits.
