Swedish Man Fatally Stabbed in Åland

A man was fatally stabbed during the night leading into Thursday in Lumparland, Åland, as reported by local media. Two additional men were injured. All involved are Swedish citizens.

The incident occurred at a cabin in the municipality of Lumparland, and a neighbor alerted the police at 3:48 AM, according to Ålandstidningen.

Three Swedish men and a woman were present in the cabin, where one of the men, in his 40s, stabbed another to death.

"One of these men was stabbed by another, involving repeated knife strikes," said the police at a press conference on Thursday.

The two other men sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The suspect was apprehended by police at the cabin.

All Swedish Citizens

The individuals involved know each other. All are Swedish citizens residing in Sweden.

The suspect is now under arrest on probable grounds for what is categorized in Åland as manslaughter and attempted manslaughter. The 40-year-old has not been able to be questioned due to his mental state, according to Ålandstidningen.

The man is not previously known to the Åland police.
