Sweden Triumphs Over Norway in EM Warm-Up
In just eight days, the European Championship kicks off. Sweden delivered a strong performance in their warm-up match against Norway.
– It's always nice to win against Norway, says Filippa Angeldahl.
Sweden immediately took control against Norway at Ullevål.
On the offensive side, it was the Swedish right flank with 18-year-old Smilla Holmberg and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd that dominated the match.
And it paid off – twice.
In the 16th minute, Rytting Kaneryd assisted Stina Blackstenius for a 1–0 lead.
In the 42nd minute, Rytting Kaneryd set up Filippa Angeldahl for a 2–0 advantage.
The second half was somewhat of a formality for Sweden, with the highlight being goalkeeper Tove Enblom making her national team debut.
Star Provides Reassurance
After an hour of play, Filippa Angeldahl left the field. On the bench, she was seen removing her shoe for some treatment.
However, after Sweden's 2–0 victory, Angeldahl provided reassuring news.
– It's no problem. I got a knock in the first half.
According to the goal scorer, there's no cause for concern.
– No, I scored after that, so I think it worked quite well, she says.
“It's Always a Good Feeling”
Angeldahl believes the victory against Norway was a show of strength.
– It's always nice to win against Norway, of course. It feels good, and we played a good match. We used a lot of speed, dared to play, and created many chances.
Midfield colleague Hanna Bennison agrees.
– It's always a good feeling to have before the EM. We have a lot we're satisfied with, but also things we want to improve. It's nice to test some things. I have great faith in us, and we've felt extra strong lately, says the 22-year-old.
Sweden's EM opener against Denmark will be played in Geneva on July 4.
