Sweden will purchase defense equipment and donate it to Ukraine. The total investment amounts to approximately 2.7 billion SEK.

"Sweden has both a foreign policy and security interest in swiftly assisting Ukraine with military support," says Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M).

The new initiative was presented at a press conference on Tuesday, attended by Energy and Business Minister Ebba Busch (KD), Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M), and Education and Integration Minister Simona Mohamsson (L).

The recent continued Russian attacks in Ukraine clearly show that Russia has no plans to end the war.

On the contrary, it underscores Ukraine's significant need for military support, according to the Defense Minister.

Therefore, Sweden, Norway, and Denmark have joined a U.S. initiative to purchase defense equipment from the USA and donate it to Ukraine.

For Sweden, this involves 275 million dollars, equivalent to approximately 2.7 billion SEK.

"This is a quick way to deliver defense equipment. The assessment is that the equipment should be available to Ukraine as early as next month," says Pål Jonson.

The initiative is coordinated by NATO and the package includes, among other things, air defense, including missiles for the American Patriot air defense system, anti-tank weapons, and ammunition.
