As Sweden transitions from summer to autumn, temperatures are set to drop significantly, with some regions in Norrland expecting snow. Despite a brief warm spell, cooler weather is anticipated across the country.

Sweden Braces for a Chilly Week as Summer Fades
After a summer-like Monday, temperatures are set to drop significantly. In Norrland, it will get even colder, with snow expected.
There are two weeks left in August, traditionally a summer month.
However, autumn weather has already arrived. Just in time for the start of the school year, it's time to bid farewell to the warmth.
Starting Tuesday, temperatures are expected to hover around 15 degrees Celsius across most of Sweden.
– A new cold front is sweeping down from the north, bringing with it a portion of significantly cooler air. It's going to be a chilly week, feeling quite autumnal, says Johan Groth, meteorologist at the weather institute Stormgeo.
Up to 25 Degrees
In Norrland, temperatures will be even lower, ranging between 10 and 5 degrees. In the Lapland mountains, snow might even fall.
– Later in the week, we might see the season's first fresh snow cover on higher terrain in the mountains, says Johan Groth.
But the weather gods are offering one last warm spell.
On Monday, a high-pressure ridge over the country will peak. In Svealand and Götaland, particularly in the eastern parts, temperatures could reach up to 25 degrees in some areas, says Groth.
– It might be the last day of summer-like warmth.
No Rain
The cold front, however, carries quite dry air, so there is unlikely to be much rain anywhere. Instead, clouds are expected, and the sun might also make an appearance.
The cooler weather is expected to persist as far as forecasts can see.
Is summer over now?
– That might not be the case, at least not meteorologically. It's possible to have an Indian summer, but it would require a spectacular weather situation to see temperatures around 30 degrees again, says Johan Groth.
